Letter from the President |
Dear members and friends,
Just yesterday Chamber
staff sent to you an
E-mail request to
consider a year end
financial gift to the
Remember Them,
"Champions for Humanity"
Monument Project!
If you are unfamiliar
with the project, please
be my guest for a
personal tour of the
sculpture in
development, an update
on the education program
now being field tested,
and the park where the
monument will be placed.
The Chamber Foundation
is the fiscal agent for
the project.
This project will be the
centerpiece in the
Uptown Art District and
is important because of
the benefit it will
bring to Oakland in
terms of visitors and
reputation.
Let me know if you would
like to know more!
Another quality of life
project is this
Saturday; " America's
Children's Holiday
Parade" on Broadway
at beginning at 2 p.m.
and televised during
December nationally on
PBS and worldwide on the
Armed Forces Network!
Join us and God Bless
America!

The tenth annual
Comcast America's Children's
Holiday Parade, which
will be telecast nationally
via PBS and internationally
via the Armed Forces
Network, will march down the
streets of downtown Oakland
on
Saturday, Dec. 5
beginning at 2 p.m.
The parade, which contains
some 90 entertaining units,
will begin at 11th and
Broadway, working its way up
to 20th and Broadway, and
then turning right to Lake
Merritt.
You can see the full parade
route here.
The event will feature
almost 20 high school
marching bands (most of
which march 80-140 members
or more), almost 50
children's favorite cartoon
and storybook characters,
giant balloons, colorful
floats, and Santa Claus
himself.
The tenth annual event is
sure to be the best ever!
Don't miss it.
