Letter from the President
Dear members and friends,

Do you need a dose of good news about Oakland???

- Today I had a chance to meet with Dr. Joel Parrott of our Oakland Zoo about the new projects that are soon to start construction. True economic development with job growth - and the result will be a world-class facility to help our children learn about California and the environment in which they live. Joel has led the way for the past 25 years to distinguish our Zoo as a place for all ages!

- The Oakland Unified School District continues to rank above most California schools, a fact revealed at our Superintendent's Breakfast, but worth repeating!

- Our local restaurants continue to get great reviews...plan a night out in Oakland, the place with a buzz! And check the December issue of Oakland Business Review, which will have a special section on Oakland as a restaurant destination.

- America's Children's Holiday Parade will be televised worldwide, one of only four parades on the American Forces Network - and that means good news about Oakland in 175 countries. And locally on TV this weekend - see below for the times!

Many thanks to KTVU, KICU and Peralta TV! Parade showtimes are:

And, should you have friends or relatives who are serving in the armed forces in countries across the world, the Armed Forces Network will air the parade on Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 6-7 p.m.

God Bless America!
