Letter from the President
Dear Chamber members,

Lend your support to keeping the Oakland A's in Oakland!

Thanks to the many businesses who have taken the time to send their letters expressing support for keeping the Oakland A's baseball franchise here in Oakland rather than allowing them to move to San Jose!

The team's ownership has applied to Major League Baseball for permission to move the team into San Francisco Giants territory.

Major League Baseball has established a three-person commission to study the issue. One factor in their evaluation is the level of business support for the team here in the East Bay.

Keeping the team here in the East Bay is a smart, long-term business decision, regardless of who owns the team. The positive economic impacts of a possible new baseball park in Oakland and keeping the team here in Oakland are many.

Please take a moment now to send us a letter (click here) on your company's letterhead indicating your firm's support for keeping the team in Oakland.

Thank you.

God Bless America!

Joseph Haraburda, President and CEO

'Chamber Day with the A's' set for Sept. 21

On Monday evening, Sept. 21, when the Oakland A's face their division rivals, the Texas Rangers, the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce will present "Chamber Day with the A's" at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
A's Logo
Join us to show support for the A's and watch the young players who will take a major role in a winning effort next year.

For a ticket price of only $29, Chamber members can reserve a seat in the Coliseum's Home Run Plaza in left field and enjoy unlimited food and drink (water and soft drinks). Besides the opportunity to watch Major League baseball and cheer on the A's, the event will present an excellent opportunity to network with other local businesspeople in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
RSVP here.

Chamber Mixer at Uptown Body & Fender held on Sept. 24

The Chamber's September mixer will be held at Uptown Body & Fender at 401 26th St. just off Broadway on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This event is not to be missed. Uptown Body and Fender pulls out all the stops at their annual mixer, and this year promises to be no different. Featuring music by Rick Ellis (a Frank Sinatra impersonator!), a dance floor, a swing instructor, and food from five Oakland restaurants, our September Mixer is half networking, all party.

Join us at the only location that promises to "Smooth out life's little wrinkles. One car at a time". RSVP here.
