Letter from the President |
Dear members and friends,
Please contact the
Metropolitan Transportation
Commission (MTC) to express
your support for BART's
Oakland Airport Connector
TODAY!
Opponents of the project are
planning to barnstorm the
MTC meeting on Wednesday,
Jan. 27 to ask that $70
million of stimulus funding
already approved for the
Connector be allocated to
other transit agencies for
on-going operations and
maintenance.
The Chamber has argued that
BART's Oakland Airport
Connector is a shovel-ready
project which will put
thousands of people to work
creating a lasting piece of
infrastructure guaranteed to
improve the BART system.
Stimulus funds are intended
for job creation and
building 21st
century infrastructure! We
ask MTC to reject any
requests to reallocate
stimulus funds and remind
opponents that stimulus
investments need to provide
benefits to future
generations.
Emails should be directed
to:
Scott Haggerty, Chair, MTC
District1@acgov.org
Steve Heminger, Executive
Director, MTC
sheminger@mtc.ca.gov
Take a minute to tell the
MTC that you support BART's
Oakland Airport Connector
NOW! Thank you for your
action

OAKLAND AND EAST BAY BUSINESS AND
PROCUREMENT FAIR
|
|
On Thursday, Feb. 11, the Oakland
Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce will
host the
Oakland and East Bay Business and
Procurement Fair. This annual event
brings vendors, business organizations,
public agencies and members of the local
community together to facilitate
business-to-business partnerships and
create new customer leads. It is also a
great chance to network in a fun,
professional environment featuring live
music, raffle prizes and complimentary
hors d'oeuvres.
The fair will run from 1-4 p.m. and will
be held in the Jewett Ballroom of the
Oakland Marriott City Center at 1001
Broadway. Attendance is free and open to
the public.
Display booths are available for as low
as $149. As of this printing, more than
30 organizations (including 15 public
agencies such as the Minority Business
Development Agency of the U.S.
Department of Commerce and the
California Public Utilities Commission -
Small Business Program) have already
confirmed their participation.
If you are a new member of the Chamber,
this is an excellent opportunity to
introduce yourself and your products and
services to the broader Oakland business
community. Existing members,
particularly those interested in
procurement opportunities with state and
county public agencies, are also
recommended participants.
Complete details can be found online
here. Please contact Morgan Crow at
mcrow@oaklandchamber.com or at (510)
874-4800, ext. 319 for more information
and to reserve a booth today!
