Letter from the President
Dear members and friends,

Oakland's Pothole Blitz continues

Oakland Public Works is heading into week two of its annual Pothole Blitz. The second week-long blitz began yesterday in Central Oakland, and will continue this week in North and West Oakland. An estimated 479 potholes have already been patched in East Oakland during the first week, despite some rainy days, by the eight Street and Sidewalk Maintenance crews. The overall goal is to fix more than 1,000 potholes during the three-week blitz by doubling up the number of staff assigned to the much needed work.

If you have any potholes in your neighborhood, report them to Public Works now. Report to PW Call Center at pwacallcenter@oaklandnet.com or by calling (510) 615-5566.  You must include the nearest street address or business location for them to take any action.

Get involved in Art & Soul

Art & Soul Oakland will soon be seeking bids from qualified companies and suppliers to provide a number of products and services needed for the tenth annual festival taking place in downtown Oakland on Aug. 21-22. Bids will be evaluated on three basic criteria: 1) ability/proven track record to provide professional quality; 2) cost/price with preference for low bid and; 3) any applicable/required insurance, licensing, certification, etc. Whenever possible, priority is given to Oakland companies. To be considered, interested companies/suppliers must contact Jim MacIlvaine, special events coordinator, City of Oakland, no later than Friday, May 7. He can be reached at jimmac@oaklandnet.com or (510) 238-2933.

God Bless America!
