Much of the work of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce affects the community, and well it should. Consider the Chamber’s mission statement – to promote commerce and industry, to advance economic growth and to enhance the quality of life in the city of Oakland.

As a result, the Chamber founded and still produces the annual Oakland Holiday Parade – America’s Children’s Parade – which brings joy and national coverage to Oakland and its metropolitan area. More than 100,000 spectators witnessed the 2007 event, which became one of only three holiday parades to be broadcast nationally.

The Chamber is also proud to support “Remember Them: Champions for Humanity,” an inspirational and educational project that has as its centerpiece a world-class monument featuring 25 international humanitarians. The four-piece bronze sculpture will be 52 feet long and 21 feet tall, and will be placed in a public park surrounded by the Uptown Project in downtown Oakland upon completion. It will be the largest bronze sculpture west of the Mississippi and has been featured on The Today Show on NBC.
