2014 Economic Development Summit
On Wednesday, April 16, 2014 the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce produced an educational half day economic development program, illuminating ideas: ENERGY & Sustainability Summit. This exciting event explored how energy, sustainability and green technology are contributing to economic growth in the East Bay and surrounding areas.
Through a series of dynamic speakers and engaging panel discussions, event participants revisited one of the strong regional sectors of the East Bay economy identified by the Oakland Partnership work, performing a “deep dive” into the “clean and green” technology and energy sector.
More than 200 participants enjoyed the Insiders Real Estate Market Update and the keynote presentation on green energy from the immediate past Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Jon Wellinghoff.
The Chamber received great feedback on our two consecutive panel session discussions on Green Infrastructure and Smart, Resilient Cities moderated by Rebecca Rubin, President and CEO, Marstel Day, and Innovative Energy Technology and the Public Private Partnership moderated by Emily Kirsch, Founder and CEO, SfunCube.
Our thanks to Chevron, PG&E, the Alameda County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Bank of America Merrill Lynch for their leadership as Presenting and Session sponsors and a big Thank You goes out to all 15 speakers and moderators as well as our Chamber Ambassadors for contributing to a wonderful Summit.
Do you have an idea for a future summit? If so, let us know. It is never too soon to plan for 2015!
Keynote speaker Jon Wellinghoff credited California’s “tremendous” energy efficiency programs and good building standards as contributors to the state’s success.
