Standing united and expressing frustration, leaders of Oakland’s business community gathered at City Hall to demand 5 immediate actions in an effort to bring vitality back to Downtown Oakland and to stem the rise in crime impacting businesses and lives across
Oakland.
In late May 2022, the Oakland City Council voted to place a ballot measure on the November 2022 ballot that will change the City’s current business tax structure from a flat tax to a progressive tax structure. The new structure increases tax rates on Oakland businesses in selected industry categories and gross receipt revenues.
