Honoring Black History Month in Oakland

Check out resources and events below to celebrate Black History Month in Oakland

Oakland is a city renowned for its diversity and deep roots in Black culture, and for  many groundbreaking individuals and influential local businesses that have contributed to the fabric of Oakland, from restaurants and fashion retailers to Oakland’s only Black-owned adult store and ‘crystal botanica’.

While Oakland’s Black legacy is vibrant year-round, this month we honor and celebrate our City’s food, music, art, political and creative history.

This Black History Month, Your Library is hosting a series of events to help you Explore, Connect, and Grow!
